Ever since the
days of Rudolf Diesel, progress in diesel engine technology has been
closely associated with MAN's design skill. It is no accident that MAN
engines are today among the very finest that the market has to offer.
MAN high-speed diesel engines are used
in ships of widely differing types from luxury yachts with planing hull
to heavy workboats with displacement hull. MAN caters for all
requirements by offering a board range of engine models. As auxiliary
units for on-board generators too, MAN engines are the epitome of
reliability - in continuous operation or just to cover peak loads.
The customer can choose from serveral
equally impressive alternatives:
- The D08/D28 series (cylinder bore
108/128mm, strokes 125/166, 155 or 142mm)
- 6-cylinder in-line engines with
rating from 190 to 537 kW (258 to 730 hp)
- 8-,10-, and 12-cylinder V models
engines with rating from 365 to 1103 kW (496 to 1500 hp).
In addition to their magnificent flow
of power, moderate fuel consumption and long, trouble-free operating
life, MAN engines are highly valued for their compact design, which
greatly simplifies the task of installation. And possibly more important
still, they are environmentally compatible, with impressive low pollutant
and noise emission levels-a factor that is becoming increasingly
important in many off-road operating conditions.
